HISTORY

The idea of the series first came to An Eye for an iPhone who seek to do a more 'family friendly' series, following their work on Superlonnys and Haines. The series main influences are Wallace and Gromit and Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends.

An Eye for an iPhone Ident

Freeman started testing out his attempts in animation, creating the characters faces with Microsoft Paint and combining the frames on Windows Live Movie Maker, with each image being played at 0,10 seconds, to create a smooth play of the mouth's movements. Additionally a voice changing app 'Ultra Voice Changer' was used to change the pitch of his voice. The first 'teaser' was released on 8th June 2016.

Freeman would next attempt to involve actual stop motion for the phone's movements with the same procedures during editing and thus the series first teaser trailer was released on 9th July 2017, the teaser was also included in one of An Eye for an iPhone's adverts.

Due to Freeman pursuing his personal life, production on the pilot did not began until 16th November 2017 and finally wrapped on 2nd September 2018. During production Freeman hired his fellow Superlonnys cast members Kiefer Adams (Iceray) for nOk and Jamie Carruthers (Quake) for tAb and the newest addition to An Eye for an iPhone, Amie Grimwood (sia).

Jonathon Larcombe (Fireball) was originally cast as nOk and Jackie Fearn (Elektra) for sia, before being replaced by the laters.

This series is also the first time for Freeman / An Eye for an iPhone to used original music, with the use of the music making app 'GarageBand'.

In April 2020 when the COVID 19 Lockdown was put in place, Freeman took advantage of the circumstances and proceed to film Episode 3 straight on, as well as writing two more episodes for the series.

Three months after finishing Text Chase, Freeman was kicked out of the family home and forced to live with his mother, leading him to add an ADR line in said episode of Cyril telling the phones that they're going to be staying at Grandma's house, hence the change of location in upcoming episodes. It was there on September, the 4th episode (Glitch Fever) began production and completed on November 30th.

On January 2021, Episode 5 commence production, filmed in just two weeks with Episode 6 shortly afterwards, due to them being strongly interconnected. As well as introducing three new characters, mEl, b3e and cAm
